Sequel?

This is a foolish idea, and would upset a LOT of phans. I would lead an angry lynch mob to his door and bring him to justice!

Yeah, if all the US and Canadan phans flew over, and we all met in London and went to protest, we might just get our message across!

Lol. I'm ok really! Its mainly my parents who wind me up. I say that, but when I was about 7 I ripped a door off a cupboard in a rage because my friend wanted to watch videos instead of pretending to be princesses!! Surprisingly, 11 years later, we're still best friends.

It is not definate that he will do it yet, and, more over, it won't be taking place in America, if my sources are correct. I have heard that it is only to be based on Forythe's Phantom of Manhatten and will take place in France.

I have a feeling its starting to be written at the moment. But that doesn't mean it will actually reach the West End or Broadway.

I get annoyed how everything is set in America. As a Scot I freaked when the set the Wickerman remake there.

Oui. It may not but ALW may be crazed enough to get away with it... it would start up the whole phantom fad again. In a way that would be brilliant but it may be... negative.
Its nice for there to be a mystery with what happens to ALWs Phantom. I think it would ruin our image of him, then again if he pulls it off well it may be wonderful.
I wonder if he ever really gets over Christine. I always have an image of him looking through a chaple window as Christine and Raoul get married. He said he would never ever leave her. I have yet to read the Phantom in Manhatten so I don't know what he gets up to.

if ALW does stay faithful to POM, then this may well be a tragedy. POM is dreadfully written, in my opinion, and the opinions of other phans.

Apparently its going to be set in London instead and it will be a play with a few songs. Interesting.

I'm now thinking I can cope with this sequel idea as long as he doesn't close the West End or Broadway production.

ALW seems pretty busy with the reality show to find a Joseph for his Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat revival, so hopefully the sequel will be put on hold for a while!

I am re-reading Phantom of Manhattan. It isn't bad, and I can see where it could make a musical, but, it is confused and jumbled. Since Forsyth based it and continued it directly from the musical, the deformity and character personalities are exactly those of the musical. But, my biggest issue, is that Erik's last name is Mulheim. He is never given a last name in the original novel, and is left nameless in the entire musical. How do they find out his name?

I know he isn't. He keeps alluding to it in other interviews. I still can't get over the idea. I mean, it sounds like a good idea, but, in essence, closing down the Phantom plays or even adding a sequel, will take away from the grandeur of the original POTO and attract more attention and media coverage. POTO is his most successful show to date- why ruin it?

Also, I would much rather see "Master and Margarita" made.

I reread POM myself, and it isnt that bad. But...
