I don't resent the '04 movie because Gerry doesn't fit the description of Erik, but I do think it's messing up the idea a bit.

One thing I liked about the 1990 version, was that they didn't show his face. They left it up to the imagination. Also, they left it so that two people wouldn't look at the deformation and one say it looks frightening and one say it looks lame.

Yes, I thought that was a good idea, too. If you never know what his face looks like, you can't judge it like all the others. You can't be dissapointed.

I love dark and sarcastic characters, whether they are heros or villians(or the female versions of those. Whatever.)

I especially love female villians and heroines... Like Elphaba in Wicked...
I loved the Khanum in Phantom. If only they would make a film out of that...

The Herbert Lom film is the most deviated from the original novel, but, it is still good

I am trying to get that book! I want to see how well the author would describe Erik, though it seems pointless to carry on something when the main character is already dead.
As for the films, 1925, deffinate. Didn't enjoy the ending though...
The 2004 film is the most impressive yet though.
As for the animated version, Christine's voice, hair, clothes, hair, accent, hair REALLY annoyed me. Good though.
The 1990 was so sweet. ^_^ but not very faithful to the book and when its comes to me the book is law. Shoot me.

The Forsythe version is very poor... And it is written as a sequel to the ALW stage show, rather than the original novel. So, Erik isn't dead.
The animated film was poorly animated, but, I liked it. It was more faithful than any film version.

You see, I just cant imagine a POTO mini-series. And yes Herbert Lom looked the farthest from an actual Erik. He didnt have a mask and only wore bandages on his head.

It was indeed good. However, the thing that probably bugged me most about the 1962 film was that Phantom had absolutely no romantic interest in Christine.

Yes, exactly. He just wanted to teach her to sing. And I hated how he slapped her! That was terrible.

It was similar to the Claude Rain's film a LOT, although in the Rain's film Erik (Erique, here!) is a nut-job with a cynical interest in boosting Christine' career.

Can we vote other? Dario Argento's Opera. No not his later travesty with Sands, but the original uncut edition of Opera. Wonderful film. Now there's a Phantom who knows how to get his way. Violence and gore, yay!

I've been on this huge Lon Chaney fetish lately so my new favorite is 1925 Smile

IO'm just sad because there's only like 2 1925 icons that I've found Sad

I cast my vote for the Lon Chaney version. I didn't care for it when I originally saw it, but grew to like it.

I do wish that they had not changed the ending and that the Graveyard scene was not cut and lost.

And I wish the original silent film was not lost. I love extrenely early films and would give anything to see that one.

None of the other films really impress me much...that just stray way too far from the basic core story.
