i prefer kays novel then leroux's because it gets more into the phantoms past and some parts it is told through eriks eyes which i think it helps the readers undersatnd how he became known as the phanotm of the opera and it helps the reader why he dose the stuff he dose and it makes him seem more human and shows that he has feelings just like every one else. whle leroux's novel is mostly between raoul and christine and the phantom is kind of a non important chrecter in the novel since he dosn't appear exsept when christine is telling raoul about him and near the end of the novel. also it is kind of confuseing cause charecters come and go with out exspaling where thay got off to i have to reread a few chapters just to under stand what just happend but it is still very wel written its jsut somewhat confusing in some chapters but kay helps us to understand the legend of the phanotm better when i read kays then read leroux's again it made more sence and it helped me to understand the novel better.
