I have no information about this book other than the fact that is it allegedly a sequel to the POTO written by a French author... Here's the link:
http://returnofthephantom.com/
No clue what it's about or anything, no plot twists, character names, etc... Sounds intriguing, though, and Amazon.com preorders are available!

Yeah, I'm super excited!! I just went out on amazon to check it out. Of course I'm going to read it, but, it just sounds like Christine is setting herself and Erik up for hurt again!! I mean, he let her go in the end, and what she now misses him? The Book description just sounds like he is going to be more possesive :"Yes! Christine Daae clawed a path to Erik, and he in turn mastered a demented part of himself in order to affect a degree of sanity and possess her." (Book review on the website) I'm interested in what they mean about discovering his true identity almost too late. Any thoughts? Btw, has anyone read the Phantom Returns by Stefanie Cole? I think I might read it after POM.

I never understand sequels. Especially POM. The Phantom goes to horrid extends to gain possession of Christine, even though he relinquished her and gave her up. It kind of kills his final act of kindness.

Phan Haha, you took the words right out of my mouth!! I love POTO, and anything related, but what happened in pretty much all novels and musicals is the way I want to remember it. Anything different, or sequaly really kills the meaning. I went out on the limb and read kay's novel (which I'm glad I did) but with this whole second musical, a sequel, it really turns me off.

Okay, so i got my copy today, and so far all i can say is
if your a fan of E/C, than by all means read away!!!! I'm really upset about the story line so far!
Spoiler:
This is just my opinion on sequels themselves and not nec. on this book, but it's hard to add on to the original. It was the best, because you knew she couldn't be with erik. that would have taken all the mystery out of their relationship. It's like when ur fav. t.v characters kiss or are finally able to get together after a long time of trying. It was the anticipation of their relationship, and the turmoil that you loved. Once they get together, there is not more of that anticipation. Besides, I know there are some raoul haters, but i really like his character. while were are all charmed by eriks mysterious life, sad to say, but raoul is really how we can actually see our lives. getting married, buying that house, and having 2.5 kids or whatever. (please, this is only my opinion!!!!Very Happy) Also, for our younger phans (or really anyone for that matter), I have to warn u, that i'm not too far in the book, and there have already been some sexually explicit scenes. ( I don't consider this a spoiler, espically for the younger readers). Don't let this deter you from reading it. I'm not finished yet, so i can't be too harsh about the book itself. Good night!!!!

Is it out already? I better order it!

And that is horrible...I hate Erik/Christine romances.... I figure that, if she wanted to stay with Erik, Leroux would have written her to.

With school, papers, and test, I finally finished the novel. I have to say it was not as bad as I initially thought. There were scenes that I could have lived with out, and the writing was not consistant. Anyone else reading the novel or done?

How sexual is it, as a whole? I mean, does it go into graphic detail...?

I didn't write a children's book. These are adults, acting as such, driven by deeply seated passions they can barely comprehend, much less cope with. Raoul cannot be for Christine what she has come to need with almost every breath. This torments him, revolts him. He owns her yet does not own her. In the vacuum created by the loss of Erik she grows emotionally destitute, marasmic. Possessions, titles...loose meaning. The crux of the matter is not whether she is capable of loving a genius miscreant, she is. Even Leroux writes of its dawning. No, the problem...like a swirling bed of twisting asps, is whether Erik is capable of opening a space within his defensive ideation to let love in. In my book, it is the brave Christine who shows him the way...even though the pain is great.

Hello Red Death,
Yes, I am the author of the book - 508 pages, 33 chapters. I wrote it. My webmaster told me about this site, and I was beginning to think the entire theater company at Phantom's Mask had gone to sleep. Please let me ask you a question. Do the members normally like surprises? Because taking four days for a reponse has definitely been a surprise on me. Just in case another four days ensues: Happy Halloween. Gird your loins, the spooks will be out.

First off, I am honored to have you on here, then.
Second, we have only a few active members, that probably have lives other than this forum. I only log on once in a great while to check things out.
Third, yes, surprises are marvelous (I know you were being sarcastic  )

Happy Halloween to you as well.

I finished your book and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Of course I'm a big fan of the original, no mater how much I wanted Christine and Erik together, but it gave me an alternative ending, to peek at the other side. The "what if" scenario. I don't want to mention anything to ruin the book for others, but there were many surprises I would never have thought of! Thank you for joining us!

Little Lotte 83 - Thank you for your kind words. Any author would appreciate them. A good book should have many surprises (and hopefully some humor) as it attempts to add to the adventure of life. I try to answer some of my readers questions on my web site, but Red Death has suggested I say something here about the book. What would be most important to say at this point is that life has constant difficulties. It took a lot courage for me to write this book. I went deep inside myself to get at truth and dealt with a great deal of angst. Christine is a cutter, has an eating disorder and suffers the consequences of her actions, so does Erik. And he suffers most acutely. But they overcome and they succeed. No other Phantom literature I read allowed for that. I had to write the thing. There's still more to come. On another subject - Please tell me what are the pictures that accompany your message and Red Death's. I am honestly curious.

I had no intention of reading this until you posted this. Now I am thoroughly intrigued. I actually never have preferred Erik/Christine scenarios because, in my mind, they defy the original and ruin the tragedy of the story and Erik's redemption. Now that I know that yur Christine suffers from these issues, I simply MUST read it!

And as for the pictures question. There are two images:
-Avatars and Signature banners. The avatar is the small picture in the left hand sidebar of your post. Your's is a white POTO mask because it is the default. To select an avatar, go to Profile and select the Avatar tab. We have a gallery (which I have to update soon) or upload from a link or your computer.
-Signatures are text or images that follow your posts. To edit them, go to profile and select the signatures tab.
www.photobucket.com or www.servimg.com are great online photo/image hosting sites for these purposes.
