Yes i quite liked him. It just irritated me that the cast were all talking in british accents except him and Emmy (they tried, but they weren't too good!). Thats the only thing that bugged me about him.

Well, they were the only American actors. What irritated me was that Miranda Richardson, though I love her, ruined the film for me by talking in a French accent. She was the ONLY one that did, and it made it strange. Either they all should have or no one should have.

Also, Christine and Raoul are Scandanavian, so, they would have different accents anyway

I loved her french accent- it was so accurate.
I noticed, reading the orignal novel that, as she was swedish, Christine has blonde hair! I love that. I suppose its because of Sarah Brightmans hair that shes a brunette in the ALW version...

Yea, they deviated a lot from the original novel. That irritates me to no end.

I was always the impression that Raoul was French and Christine was Sweedish. I thought they met in Normandy. Thats when Raoul caught Christine's scarf, when she got off the boat etc etc. Thats what I thought anyway. Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
But oui, Christine should have a slight Sweedish accent and Raoul should have a french refined one. I thought it was silly they all had different accents. Miranda got it right for the setting but it did sound slightly idiotic compared to the other accents. If it was all french i'm sure everyone would complain so It should have been all Brittish accents in my opinion.

what if erik kiked raouls butt in the sword fight scene it would be very interesting to see what happens next

Well, when I was reading about Phantom, I thought it actually happens. Lack of shooting in that scene made me disappointed when I watched the movie
