Which side is it?

In the movie poster Eriks mask is on his left side but in the movie its on his right. Whats going on here? Was it meant to be on his left but a sudden change to the right?

Thats the one with the one on his left side. And there it is on his right.

I've only just realised how wrong that poster looks with it on the left! I guess they changed it because of the pose they are in and they needed the mask to show.

yes, the poster was designed quickly before the show was produced.

just like the musical mask logo was designed before ALW decided on a half mask which shows emotion more easily

I personally like the full-face mask. I mean, ALW had it decided to have his Phantom with a full face deformity, but, they had to change it quickly to accomodate emotion.
And the mask was originally intended to be on the opposite side of the current one, but, Michael Crawford came in and changed it. Many of the modern touches are thanks to him:
-Mask side
-Mask eyebrow and eyeshadow
-High cheeckbone on some
-Nose curve and temple indent
-And, on his mask and a few others, there is a glass eyes where his deformed one is!

Ya in some instances I do but Hell I dont give a crap about the mask(well not in some cases) but I just care about the movie and the story.

Yes, the film one is pathetic compared to the stage Red Death mask. But i guess the original film mask would have been 'too much' for the film.

They changed too much. In the book, he goes around maskless!

he actually doesnt or at least from what im reading. He was at the party in the second or third chapter but he was wearing the mask by what Leroux was saying about the nose. And since he had a nose at the party he must of at least had the mask on because he has no nose.

He wears a plastic nose, but wears no mask during the party for the manager's and then wears no mask/nose during the masquerade.
Leroux describes the prosthetic nose in one chapter...

Wouldnt you suspect something from just looking at his face? I mean if he went around with no mask and only a fake nose that means that the rest of his face isnt disfigured doesnt it? Other than the yellow skin. But hasnt Buquet described to the people what the phantom looked like? I know that he had the nose and back then that would of fooled them but still that would be a really suspectable thing.

"No he isnt."
"Yes he his he has the yellow skin, the few wisps of black hair. and his face looks like a skeleton."

???? If they know hes the phantom why dont they do anything?!? From the description in the book the people in the party thought it was a friend of either the new or the old managers of the opera house depending on which managers invited them.

Unless you think that it was the one that he crashed, no it wasn't. It was just a normal party thrown for the new managers.

I know. The ballet dancers know he is The Phantom. And how he is able to sit there, unmasked, with only a prosthetic nose, I have no clue. But he did.
